What we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. We collect as little as we can and we do not sell your data.
Who we are
STUDIO HOT TAKE LTD, trading as Hot Take, company number 17242770, registered in England and Wales, is the data controller for the personal data described here. Our ICO registration number is ZA-PENDING and will be published here once it is confirmed. Data protection contact: dpo@studiohottake.com.
What we collect
To send you a shirt we collect your name, email address, billing address, shipping address, and metadata about your order. We never see your card number. That goes straight to Stripe, our payment processor.
If you join our mailing list we store your email address and your subscription status, nothing more.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
Fulfilling your order. Lawful basis: performance of a contract with you.
Marketing email, and only if you opt in. Lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Fraud prevention and site analytics. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure, working shop.
Tax and accounting records. Lawful basis: our legal obligation.
Who we share it with
We use a small set of processors to run the shop, and each only gets what it needs: Stripe for payments, Resend for order email, Klaviyo for marketing email if you opt in, Neon for the database, Vercel for hosting, Sentry for error monitoring, and Royal Mail or a courier for delivery.
Where your data goes
Some of these providers, including Vercel, are based in or process data in the United States. Where your data leaves the UK we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement and Standard Contractual Clauses to keep it protected to UK standards.
How long we keep it
We keep transaction records for 7 years to meet HMRC requirements. Marketing subscribers are kept until you unsubscribe, which you can do from any email in one click.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, correct it, have it erased, take it elsewhere, and object to certain uses. To exercise any of these, email dpo@studiohottake.com and we will respond.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your data, tell us first at dpo@studiohottake.com. We aim to respond within 30 days. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113.
